One of the newest products we have in our satin range is Stretch Satin which is a great fabric to use in your Dressmaking. Stretch satin is made from 95% polyester and 5% lycra with a lateral stretch to it. This makes it a very durable and good quality fabric and is most suitable for evening wear garments. With a soft sheen to it, Stretch Satin is most popular with our customers who do not want a very shiny fabric but still want a satin fabric for their dressmaking.
Stretch Satin is a perfect dressmaking fabric for patterns that require a bit of stretch as it contains 5% lycra. This makes it perfect for garments that are fitted but still need to allow some movement. The lycra within the make up of Stretch Satin makes it extremely comfortable to wear and this has made it a very popular fabric with our customers. Having that small amount of lycra in a fabric is a desirable quality as it really adds to the comfort and feel of the fabric.
Suitable for dresses, skirts and even tops our Stretch Satin is available in a range of colours including silver, red and black. It would be perfect for a evening dress, skirt or possibly a smart jacket for a formal occasion. At £4.99 per metre, Stretch Satin is perfect for those wanting to use satin but are on a budget. Even though this is one of the cheaper satins in our range it still has an expensive look to it and its sheen really adds to its gorgeous aesthetic.
I hope that you have enjoyed todays blog and that it has been informative about our fabric. If you have any thoughts or ideas of your own, please feel free to share them with us in the box below….and don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date with all the latest news and special offers!!

Here are just some of the uses of Cationic Chiffon in Dressmaking:

In todays blog we are going to be talking about the range of Faux Fur fabric we stock here at Fabric-World, and some of the uses for it.
Here at Fabric-World, we have a range of 20 different colours and designs to choose from. All our Faux Fur fabric is a long pile fur, comes in a width of 150cm and is £8.99 per metre.
Faux fur is designed to emulate the look and feel of real fur, so it has many different uses:
- Faux Fur Clothing – Fur has long had a place in the world of fashion and is used to make warm outer clothing such as ladies and mens coats, and ladies shrugs. The increasing popularity of Faux Fur garments can be credited to the many petitions that have been carried out by animal rights campaigners, against the use of real animal fur. It is a suitable alternative, with many advantages over real fur: it is a fabric, therefore easy to work with and sew, and it is not open to deterioration or moth damage.
- Fancy Dress Clothing – Faux fur is an inexpensive and popular choice for many different fancy dress costumes. Here at Fabric-World, in our range of Faux Fur, we stock patterned designs including our Aligator and Tiger fabrics, so you can really have fun creating you own costumes!
- Fashion accesories – Faux Fur is vasty becoming popular to line Fashion Accessories such as bags, and really adds a touch of glamour to any outfit, whether it be for a daytime or evening look.
- Home decoration – Faux Fur is popular for creating beautiful designs in home interiors such as cushion and pillow covers, and rugs.
- Stuffed Toys – Faux Fur is easy to work with and is the ideal material for this.
As you can see, there are many possibilties for using Faux Fur, and it is becoming increasingly popular as a replacement to real fur.
