When choosing a fabric it is very important that you make the right decision. Although Cheap Fabrics are great for the pocket, they don’t give you the same finish of higher quality fabrics. We have a selection of all sorts of materials for every budget, ranging from economy fabrics to Couture Fabrics which are a new addition to our range and are simply stunning and ooze class!
Quality Fabrics will also last much longer and are so easy to work with. One of my personal favourites is our selection of Crepe. It is such a versatile fabric and is made with such superb quality. It can be made into a number of different designs such as dresses, tops and skirts and flows beautifully. It has a matte look about it and will drape so nicely! It is made from 100% Polyester and is 150 cm wide. We also have a Satin Back Crepe which is satin one side and crepe the other so you have the choice of your preferred side! Our selection of Chiffon matches up brilliantly with our selection of crepes so you can create some wonderful garments with added texture and flow!
Another great quality fabric is our Viscose Jersey, which is suitable for more casual dressmaking, although could be used for dresses etc. It has a 4-way stretch to it and is very drapey, so will not only be comfortable to wear, it will also look great! The Viscose Jersey is 150 cm wide and is made from 100% viscose.

Here at Fabric-world we have a wide choice of all sorts of fabrics depending on your budget. Whether you are looking for economy fabrics or want something that is a bit special, we can cater for everyone! Although cheap fabrics are good value for money and are available in a range of different materials, they don’t seem to have the same overall effect as the more high quality fabrics. In our economy range, we have Economy Satin which is available in some really attractive bold colours and is great value for money. They are made from 100% polyester and are 150 cm wide so could be used for dressmaking such as evening and formal wear, or because of the great price, you could even use it as decoration, especially for big events such as weddings or parties!
If you are looking for a fabric that oozes quality; Satin Back Crepe is a perfect choice. It is satin on one side and a lovely crepe on the other, which can be used on either side depending on your preference. Satin Back Crepe can be used for all sorts of garments and will really enhance your dressmaking designs! This fabric is 115cm wide and is made in Japan and matches up perfectly with our range of chiffon’s. We also have an Economy Satin Back Crepe too!

Although these Bridal Fabrics are lower priced, they are still of the same high quality as our other fabrics.

Chiffon – This is an extremely popular Bridal Fabric as it can be used with other fabrics or alone to create a range of stunning dresses. Our Chiffon fabrics are 100% polyester and made in Japan, coming in a width of 115cm. Priced at just £3.79 per metre, these fabrics are ideal for bridal dressmaking on a budget due to the stunning drape and fall of the fabric.
Economy Satin – These satin fabrics are 100% polyester and also made in Japan. Coming in a width of 150cm and priced from just £1.99 to £2.69 per metre, these fabrics are one of the best options for those who want a less expensive bridal fabric as satin is very versatile and create a high quality finish.
Organza – This fabric is also 100% polyester and comes in a generous width of 150cm. These Indonesian made fabrics are priced at just £2.49 per metre, making them excellent value for money.

The planning of a special occasion is one of the most important parts of the Dressmaking process, and deciding upon the right Cheap Fabrics is part of the fun! We currently have a huge selection of Cheap Fabrics to choose from including Economy Satins, Chiffons and manymore!!! One of our most popular Cheap Fabrics is Organza.
Organza is a Cheap Fabric that is traditionally made from silk, however it is more commonly made from either polyester or nylon. The Organza Cheap Fabric that we stock comes from Indonesia, is 100% polyester, and comes in a width of 150cm. We currently have 20 different shades of Organza Cheap Fabric to choose from, so you can be sure to find the perfect shade for your wedding day!
Organza Cheap Fabric has a plain weave, and is a sheer fabric that is ideal for layering with our other Cheap Fabrics such as the Economy Satins, to give an interesting structure to any garments, as well as adding beautiful textures and colours.
Another variation of our Organza Cheap Fabric is our Organza Snow Sheer. This is the ideal choice for decorating items at your special event, and can be used to decorate chairs, as table runners and also to create ornamental items such as flowers etc.
As you can see, there are many uses for this one Cheap Fabric and it can really provide that extra touch of glamour to your special day!

Here at Fabric-World, we are experienced in knowing how important it is to use good quality Dressmaking Fabrics within your projects. Cheap Fabrics quite simply don’t last as well as fabrics of a higher quality. All of the Fabrics that we stock here at Fabric-World are of the best quality, yet we can offer fantastic prices. Cheap prices dont’ necessarily mean Cheap Fabrics!
Here are some of the Dressmaking Fabrics that you can use when working under a budget, without having to sacrifice quality:
- Economy Satin – This fabric is ideal as a replacement for Cheap Fabrics, and is easy to work with, meaning that it can be perfect for many of your Dressmaking proects such as formal garments and bridal wear.
- Chiffon – This is the highest quality polyester Chiffon, and is perfect for layering with other Dressmaking Fabrics. Cheap Fabrics such as other Chiffons that are manufactured simply do not produce the required results when made into garments, resulting in poorer quality clothing.
- Poplin – This is a very popular Dressmaking Fabric that is far from being a Cheap Fabric! It is a popular choice for many garments including men’s and women’s shirts that require a lighter fabric without it being a Cheap Fabric.
Using Cheap Fabrics can often become a more expensive option in the long run, through having to replace more often and costing more in labour to create new garments.
